Batman: Arkham City ships 4.6 million units in first week

Currently the highest rated game of 2011 on Metacritic.
Since its North American launch of 18 October, Warner Bros’ Batman: Arkham City has shipped 4.6 million units worldwide. Not bad for seven days work, especially considering that the PC edition hasn’t even been released yet.
As we reported yesterday, Arkham City is currently sitting atop the UK All-Format sales chart. It has sold double the number of units its predecessor, Batman: Arkham Asylum, managed in its first week.
Arkham City is also the top rated game of 2011 thus far, according to Metacritic. The PlayStation 3 edition is currently sitting on 96, while the Xbox 360 has a healthy 95. Our own 9/10 review for Arkham City can be found here.
“The true test for any game is what the players think and we have been thrilled by their reaction to Batman: Arkham City,” said Sefton Hill, Game Director at Rocksteady Studios.  “The team at Rocksteady put every ounce of effort into making the best Batman experience we possibly could, so we are overwhelmed by the incredible feedback from the community.”
