Battlefield 3 seemingly banned in Iran

The Associated Press is reporting that Battlefield 3 has been banned from stores in Iran. Presumably, this is due to the fact that a portion of Battlefield 3’s single player campaign takes place in Tehran. 
Even though publisher EA has no official sellers in the region, and many local stores did not chase retail copies to begin with, police have raided shops in a bid to remove pirated copies from circulation. 
“We understand that the story of a videogame is hypothetical,” read a petition from an Iranian youth group. “We believe the game is purposely released at a time when the US is pushing the international community into fearing Iran.”
There is a positive to this, though. Iran won’t have to suffer through the terrible single player campaign like the rest of us.
