Codemasters’ latest rally game will pay tribute to the late Colin McRae.

The legendary rally driver died towards the end of production of the first DIRT game and so no tribute could be included.

However, the publisher has confirmed a memorial cup will appear in the sequel.

As you go through the career mode you will try to qualify for the Colin McRae Memorial Cup. And there will also be other in-game references to the game’s inspiration.

“You’ll hear other drivers talking about him. He’s the central figure in the narrative.” Mark Turosz of Codemasters told MTV.

Colin McRae: DIRT 2 is due for release on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on 29 September. Check out the E3 gameplay trailer here.
