Gamespy Ending Hosting Services May, Hosting Now Up To Game Devs

Gamespy, now owned by Glu Mobile, has revealed that they are finally ramping down completely, and ending hosting services for games by the end of May 31.

Nintendo, which used Gamespy for their Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service for Wii and DS, may have taken an early bullet announcing they were ending the service without alluding to this. It’s clear they gave consumers an early fair warning.

Gamespy got in trouble with their clients two years ago for allowing their contracts to lapse without prior warning, but now, there can be no question that they’re ending everything for sure. You can read Gamespy’s message on their site below.

Effective May 31, 2014, GameSpy will cease providing all hosted services for all games still using GameSpy. If you have any questions about how this impacts your favorite title please contact the game’s publisher for more information. Thanks for a great ride!
