The smash hit title, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, sold 1.23 million copies in the UK alone during its first day on sale, according to games charts.

The game, which launched yesterday after a massive media campaign, outsold past titles including Grand Theft Auto IV. The data from Gfk Chart-Track indicates that Activision raked in roughly £47m GBP from the sale.
One has to wonder if the huge success of this game is partly down to the sheer size of publicity it has received, including the controversial leaked video showing a mission that involves killing civilians in an airport.
