Rocksmith 2014

Alice in Chain’s Jerry Cantrell riffed his way through the introduction to Ubisoft’s E3 2013 conference, by way of revealing Rocksmith 2014 Edition. As is the style at these events, not a massive amount of information was divulged, but enough to make it clear that the game will be out in October (though given the original Rocksmith’s fragmented release on PC that may change.)

Unsurprisingly, Alice in Chains will be featured on the tracklist. What, you thought Cantrell just showed up for fun?

According to a press release issued after the conference, there’ll be more than 50 tracks included with the game, including: “Stone” by Alice In Chains, “Walk This Way” by Aerosmith, “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” by Bob Dylan, “The Chimera” by The Smashing Pumpkins, “Don’t Look Back In Anger” by Oasis and “ultra soul” by B’z.

The interface has supposedly had a redesign too, which should please Tim. A “Riff Repeater” feature will let players select any given potion of a song they wish to play, while “Master Mode” claims to make playing from memory more approachable.
