Still no straight answer on PC version of GTA V from Rockstar

Grand Theft Auto V

I really do wish developers would stop pissing about when it comes to “revealing” PC versions of their games, GTA V being just one of the many games we would actually quite like to get some confirmation on.

In a new Q&A with the GTA V team, the inevitable question about a PC version was asked and sadly another half-assed response was given:

“The only versions of the game that we have announced are for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 which are set for a September 17th worldwide release. We don’t have anything to share about the possibility of a next-gen or a PC platform release at this time and we are completely focused on delivering the best possible experience for the consoles people have right now.”

I don’t think anyone was ever in any doubt that they want to deliver “the best possible experience for the consoles people”, and what exactly has that got to do with the actual question? Oh, well I guess it’s too much to ask, and you can read Peter’s article on this very topic.

In the same Q&A, Rockstar did mention that more details of the multiplayer will be revealed this summer and that the multiplayer will be called Grand Theft Auto Online.

The full Q&A can be read over on Rockstar’s blog.

Thanks for reporting on this. I would love to have PC release, but only if it’s polished and not a half-baked port like GTA IV was. If they release on Xbox One in the future, I assume they’ll make a PC port since Microsofts advertises the “write once, run on both” compatibility. Maybe I’m just setting myself up for disappointment though.

Yeah I want to see this released on PC properly too. Modders from previous series have shown what can be done so Rockstar should really listen to the demand in their market right now. I reckon there is enough of us to make it worthwhile for them financially. It’s really not that hard for them to ask their audience and advertise the crap out of the question, ‘should we port this to PC?’

they should not “port” a game to the PC, they should make a game for the PC.
prts are cute at best, games are being developed on the PC anyway so making a PC version would only benefit from the convenience.
