The Classic FPS Tribes Returns

InstantAction has acquired the IP to StarSiege: Tribes following the Activision/Blizzard merger and the game is set to make a come-back in your browser.Tribes was possibly the finest team-play FPS ever created and thankfully fans of the game will once again be able to take to their jet-packs through InstantAction. GarageGames, which operates InstantAction, was founded by ex-Dynamix employees so Tribes will effectively be returning to its spiritual home.GarageGames purchased the IP late last year and the browser build will be distributed through the InstantAction website, and will also be playable as a stand-alone game. The existing master server system will be kept intact and a new master server address will be available with the release. Tribes players should also note that Mods and configs used in 1.11 will not be directly compatible without a few minor changes.Although the game will not feature updated graphics, Tribes players know that what made Tribes such a brilliant game was the gameplay. The InstantAction version game will be shown for the first time at the GDC next week.SHAZBOT!
