Paradox and Fat Shark’s multiplayer close quarters combat title War of the Vikings has just hit Steam Early Access.

As with all pre-release versions this gives you the chance to shape the game as development progresses with access also being made available to owners of the War of the Roses: Kingmaker Edition.

“After the first well-received War of the Vikings Alpha we began planning for the next phase and explored all options available to us,” said Gordon Van Dyke, Executive Producer of the War franchise. “We already knew we wanted to do another public Alpha and Beta, and we’d planned to offer pre-orders. After consideration, it was a no-brainer to go with Steam Early Access and kill two birds with one axe, and give our community ample opportunity to help shape the final product.”

The Early Access purchase comes in a few different flavours, the Standard Edition for £14.99, Blood Eagle Edition which comes with a digital concept art book, soundtrack and exclusive gear for £22.99, and finally the Valhalla Edition for £99.99 which includes art book, soundtrack, premium Saxon helmet, Blood Eagle Vikings Helmet, Lifetime Viking Pass for access to all future content, and bonus coins which can be passed on as a gift.

The Early Access features 3 fixed profiles, the ‘Arena’ and ‘Team Deathmatch’ game modes, 2 small maps (Gauntlet and Docks), 2 large maps (Forest and Docks), and a selection of weapons including Swords, One-Handed and Two-Handed Axes, Longbows, Throwing Axes, and Daggers.

If you fancy smashing some heads with some nasty weaponry then head to Steam.
