UK’s Dark Energy Digital enters administration

Dark Energy Digital, the developer of Hydrophobia (as well as re-issued versions Hydrophobia Prophecy and Hydrophobia Pure), is entering administration. Employees at the studio have confirmed that they were informed last week of the decision to call in administrators, and redundancy notices have been issued to staff.
The company was previously known as Blade Interactive, before that incarnation went bankrupt in 2008. Flagship title Hydrophobia saw multiple releases across PC, Xbox 360 and PS3, represented a genuine attempt to improve upon a game which saw poor reviews and sales in its first form.
However, Hydrophobia Prophecy (on PS3 and PC) and Hydrophobia Pure (on Xbox 360) did not reignite sufficient interest in the game (which, originally, was planned as a trilogy).
It is possible that the ‘Hydro Engine’, the impressive graphics tool which powered the water effects in Hydrophobia could be sold on by adminstrators.
