Batman: Arkham Knight

Batman: Arkham Knight PC sales suspended on Steam

It’s not been a good week for Warner and Rocksteady (and possibly Iron Galaxy if they handled the port) with Batman: Arkham Knight’s release plagued by performance issues on the PC.

Today Warner has decided enough it s enough and sales of the game have been suspended on Steam. The link to order vanished and has been replaced by this message:

“Batman: Arkham Knight have been temporarily suspended while Warner Brothers works to address performance issues.”

Yesterday Tim battled through the installation process to bring you our first impressions with some really mixed results. The bottom line is the game is a bit of a mess and should never have been pushed out in its current state.

This does beg the question why the game was outsourced to a third party for the PC version at all. This has to be the reason the quality is simply not up to the standard PC gamers expect and frankly it’s very shoddy.

Batman: Arkham Knight is just another example of why it’s not always a great idea to jump in with a pre-order. Consumers need to apply pressure on developers and publisher by not pre-ordering to make sure they release a game that functions as intended.

If you were looking to pick the game up this week then you may have just dodged a bullet. For now at least.

Update: A further statement from Warner Bros suggests that all (physical and digital) “future game sales” of Batman: Arkham Knight
on PC are now suspended until the port is fixed.

“We want to thank you for your patience as we work to deliver an updated version of Batman: Arkham Knight on PC so you can all enjoy the final chapter of the Batman: Arkham series as it was meant to be played,” the statement concludes. If you don’t fancy waiting for that, the same post directs people to the Steam refunds page.
