Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India video looks at the next installment

There won’t be too many surprises in this Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India video, especially for those who played the prior installment: China. It’s effectively a continuation of the same mechanics, just with a different setting and protagonist.

This time, as the name suggests, the 2D-plus-a-bit-of-depth stealth platformer is heading to India. It’s 1841, and the British Empire still controls the country. Much to the displeasure of the Sikh Empire.

Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India casts you as Arbaaz Mir, a master assassin looking for the usual mysterious Eden mcguffin and aiming to rescue his ladyfriend while he’s at it. As in China, this will involve sneaking past patrols by hiding in closets and alcoves, taking higher paths with the use of a grappling hook, and (if necessary) stabbing any guards who get in the way.

Combat is an option, but it’s a stealth-oriented series, with specific rewards for not being seen, and punishments (death, basically) for taking on too many foes at once. It looks like this installment has also added some virtual-styled challenge rooms in which to set competitive times and practice skills.

Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India is coming to PC on 12 January. The final part, Russia, is due later in the year. Here’s the trailer.
