Public desire for Pillars of Eternity 2 is clearly rampant, as the project’s Fig campaign has hit the $1.1 million USD funding goal within 24 hours. Almost 10,000 people have pledged (or invested) some cash at this point, so it looks like the $1.4 million ‘stretch goal’ for character sub-classes is very much within reach.

To get a few more specifics about Pillars of Eternity 2, it’s not a bad idea to keep an eye on Josh Sawyer’s tumblr page. He’s been answering specific questions about the second game over there.
For example, he’s talked about the artistic inspirations for the locations in the Deadfire Archipelago (SE Asian, Polynesian, east African, Indian), and confirmed that factions in Deadfire will be much more central to the plot of Pillars of Eternity 2 than the factions within Defiance Bay were for the first game. He has also said that there will be a method of selecting your decisions from Pillars to impact the story of Pillars 2, in case you have problems importing a saved game.
On the more technical side, he’s talked a little about the new method of streaming assets to improve loading times, and about the mechanics of combat counters.
