System Shock 3

System Shock 3 will be published by Starbreeze

OtherSide Entertainment’s System Shock 3 will be published by Starbreeze, and receive $12 million USD in funding as part of the deal. That news comes straight from Starbreeze themselves, who will bring the game to PC and “other platforms”.

System Shock 3 is distinct from the Night Dive System Shock ‘remake’ project. OtherSide are led by former Looking Glass Studios head Paul Neurath, and include several former LGS people among their staff. In February this year, Warren Spector joined the OtherSide team as full time studio director. OtherSide are also working on the Kickstarter-funded Underworld Ascendant.

“We’re greatly looking forward to bringing System Shock 3 to players world wide in our collaboration with Otherside Entertainment and Warren Spector’s team,” says Bo Andersson-Klint of Starbreeze. Neurath is happy too, stating “We are thrilled to be partnering with Starbreeze for System Shock 3.”

All intellectual property relating to the game will remain with OtherSide. For their part, Starbreeze will be able to recoup “120% of its full investment including marketing costs.” Thereafter, it looks like the revenue share between developer and publisher will be 50/50.

Release is a fair way off, however. System Shock 3 is still in the early stages of development.
