Deep Silver Volition Campaigning For City Funding To Expand

Deep Silver Volition is currently negotiating with the city council of Champaign, IL to help fund their expansion. We wonder if the precedent set by 38 Studios in Rhode Island will hinder their campaign.

Unlike 38 Studios, of course, Volition is already an incredibly successful company, standing tall on the Saints Row franchise. However, because of the city’s regulations, the intended expansion would be too cost prohibitive as it is.

Volition’s lease on their current location in One Main Plaza is coming up at the end of May, and so things have come to a head. Volition is arguing the impact their employees have on the local businesses in their downtown location.

It’s an interesting story to us, but if they fail to retain the location it may adversely affect Volition’s employees, operations, and the company itself. Let’s hope they get their way.
