Today’s fun stuff is a tumblr comic that just got funded as a game, and the Kickstarter’s just started so you can still jump right in and fund them.
Oh, you needed more info? Well then, let me introduce you to one of the biggest projects in indie gaming culture in recent memory.
OMORI originally came out online as a comic blog of sorts from December 2011 to March 2012 (check it out), and later reappeared in the form of both a short story and partially finished graphic novel. However, OMOCAT always conceived of it as a game, and finally decided to go to Kickstarter to get it made.
The game is a surreal psychological horror where the characters shift between two world, and will eventually have to choose between them. Considering OMORI himself was always depicted as a restless, stay-at-home teen (with issues), this game promises to be quite the revelatory adventure/nightmare.
Now, I don’t want to take attention away from the game for this, but seriously, the names attached to the soundtrack already make this a must have. They include:
- Aivi and Surasshu
- Bo En
- Flashy Goodness
- Kupeck
- Meishi Smile
- Slime Girls
- Space Boyfriend
- Toby Fox
Slime Girls and Space Boyfriend are working on the main soundtrack, with everyone contributing tracks to a jukebox sidequest. Also on the team are illustrator/developer Archeia, and Gino, who will help.
OK, so enough hype. OMORI has already raised its base goal of $ 22,000, and funding can now go to stretch goals for expanded cutscenes, a Mac port, and who knows what. Funding means you can get some of OMOCAT’s awesome merchandise in the form of T-shirts, pins, commissions, and more.
