Over the holidays, gamers discovered that some popular older DX9 games would not work with the recent AMD driver update. AMD was alerted to the issue and initially responded saying they would not be looking at fixing the issue to make these older games work.
A post from AMD in response to concerns read, “This title is from 2007, so we are unlikely to devote any valuable engineering resources to this issue, which is most likely caused by outdated API modules.”
This sounded like bad news for games still enjoying games such as The Witcher, Red Alert 3, Skyrim, PES 2017, and even Tales of Berseria. Since the issue came to light, a list of games affected has been compiled. It’s not a huge list, but the fact that future AMD drive updates could break older games was concerning.
Today, AMD backtracked on the initial comment from a few days ago and have now said they are working on a hotfix to sort the problem.
Happy 2018 everyone!! I am seeing some stories pop up about AMD not supporting some old games. That is absolutely not true, we are identifying the bug and working on a fix asap. C&C, Witcher, BfME, etc will be working again.

No need to panic if you’re an AMD user. It would have been extremely odd if AMD had not looked into this issue.
