New World Interactive has released a load of information for their upcoming FPSÂ Insurgency: Sandstorm including a release window of September 2018.
Although there is no exact date in September, that will be the month the game releases for the price of $29.99. Anyone who already owns Insurgency on Steam will also receive a 10% discount and pre-orders are starting soon. Pre-ordering will also grant access to the beta test.
Modes that will launch with the game include  Push, Firefight, and Capture the Base for Versus, as well as Checkpoint for co-op. Operation and Outpost modes will be added post-release but the team is still not sure if they will “have a place” in the new game.
Post-release, there will be free content updates which will include new maps, weapons, upgrades and “other content”. Modders will be supported with custom map tools, Steam Workshop support, and rule adjustments. There will be more but that’s all that’s been detailed so far.
For release, Insurgency: Sandstorm will have 40 weapons and around 40 weapon upgrades, some from the first game and some new. There will also be more fire support such as jet airstrikes (BRRRT), explosive artillery, chemical mortars, explosive suicide drones, helicopters with rockets, mini-guns, and autocannons.
Character customisation is also being worked on and there are around 6500 lines of dialogue for local Arab fighters (both Security and Insurgent teams), American special operations soldiers, fire support coordinators, and air support pilots.
Also worth noting is there will be no Steam Marketplace support, item trading, or a loot crate system. All items available won’t affect gameplay and are unlocked through progression ranks and an in-game currency system.
There’s a lot to look forward to and there are also a few new shots in the update which has been pushed out now to avoid E3 noise.
