Michael Fassbender to Produce and Star in Assassin’s Creed Movie

Michael Fassbender, who has had major roles in X-Men: First Class, 300, and Prometheus, will produce and star in a movie adaptation of Assassin’s Creed.

The movie as described, “revolves around a man who learns his ancestors were trained Assassins after he is kidnapped by a secret org with ties to the Knights Templar, and sent back in time to retrieve historical artifacts.”

UMP CEO Jean-Julien Baronnet has stated:

“Michael Fassbender was our first choice. Michael is an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor.”

Baronnet also noted that UMP will be limiting its risk investment and will save production costs by turning to its in-house game studios for visual effects work.

The movie will be made by Ubisoft and Sony with an unusual agreement to give Ubisoft the final say when it comes to budget, principle cast, script, release date, and more. While Hollywood insiders consider Sony’s lack of involvement to ultimately be the movie’s doom, many gamers support the decision after a string of video game movies from Hollywood that have failed to impress.

As of right now, the movie does not have a release date.
