New Assassin’s Creed 3 Trailer Focuses on AnvilNext Engine

A new trailer has been released for the upcoming third-person action adventure title with stealth elemenents, Assassin’s Creed 3. However unlike the previous trailers, this new one happens to focus on the game engine itself, AnvilNext, rather than the game.

The engine itself is named after it’s predecessor, the Anvil engine, and one would expect that AnvilNext would allude to being the successor of the previous version, and while this remains true, the name itself could also stem from the engine being originally designed in anticipation of the next generation of consoles too.

The AnvilNext engine certainly has quite a lot to shout about though. Thanks to the new engine, players will receive a lot of new features in the game, be it directly implemented into the gameplay, or simply to raise the sense of immersion.

Something which has yet to have been used to its full potential is dynamic weather conditions. Assassin’s Creed 3 however is set to change this, with their engine being completely capable of dynamic weather conditions that encompass all of the four seasons and portrays the change in the environment as one would expect.

One feature which should prove more gameplay-centric is the ability to render 2,000 NPC’s on screen in a single battle, which should hopefully also mean the environment will be populated more evenly, rather than populating only a 50 meter area around the protagonist.

Also the engine will feature realistic water simulation, which should play a rather large role when participating in battles on the sea as was shown at this years E3 event.

Coincidentally, this new trailer also is host to the first footage of Connor killing Americans as well as the British, something which some of the fanbase has been slightly dubious of so far.

Anyway there really isn’t any need for me to try and continue to spoil it all for you is there? After all you likely as excited as I am to see all the next entry in the franchise has to offer too, so check out the video below and let us know what you think to these new features for the franchise!
