Earlier today we seen this story originally posted by The Nottingham Post, who reported the story of a young man that found himself a victim of an Ebay prank.

Peter Clatworthy, a 19-year-old student, was searching internet auction site Ebay, for a deal on Microsoft’s latest console the XboxOne. To his delight he found what he was looking for – Or not, in this case.

“It said ‘photo’ and I was in two minds, but I looked at the description and the fact it was in the right category made me think it was genuine.” He went on to explain. “I looked at the seller’s feedback and there was nothing negative. I bought it there and then because I thought it was a good deal.”

So, Monday, 2nd December rolls around and Peter gets a package he wasn’t quite expecting. He had in fact paid £450 + £8 P&P for a picture of an XboxOne, not any picture mind you, but a badly printed picture with a message on the back.

“They’d written on the back of it ‘thank you for your purchase’. I was fuming.” Mr Clatworthy told The Nottingham Post.

It seems that Peter could be getting a refund as Ebay are looking into the matter but just to be safe, read the description of everything on Ebay, if it says it’s a photo of something, or an empty box, that’s more than likely what you’ll be paying for and receiving.
