This week, ArenaNet announced that its MMO Guild Wars 2 is the latest game to receive its own dedicated competitive league. In a partnership with ESL Pro League, the professional tournament series will reward $400,000 in prizes.
League play will start in November with open qualifiers leading up to the Season Finals LAN event being held at ESL studios. Shortly afterwards, a second season will be held. These two seasons will accumulate to the $400K in prize money. At the conclusion of the two seasons, ArenaNet will hold a World Championship.

Guild Wars 2 went free-to-play in late August. An expansion was also announced titled Hearts of Thorns which is expected to release on October 23 of this year.
