Team Meat announces Mew-Genics

Team Meat, otherwise known as Tommy Refenes and Edmund McMillen, have announced a curious new title called Mew-Genics. Described as both “a game about cats … kinda” and “by far the strangest project I’ve ever worked on” (impressive, given McMillen’s previous work),Mew-Genics will be the next official Team Meat game.

According to the announcement post on their official site, Mew-Genics emerged from a weekend game jam session. Work is “moving quite fast” on the project, so expect a few more details along the lines of platforms, screenshots and what the heck the game actually is in the near-ish future.

“We don’t want to spoil too much here, but we can say the game will be randomly generated, strange and involve cats,” the piece says.

Super Meat Boy: The Game, the follow-up to Super Meat Boy, is temporarily on hold while the pair work on Mew-Genics, but still very much in development.

” Just on hold till we squeeze this little kitten out of our loins,” says Team Meat.

That is a sentence I did not expect to see today.
