Players have finally got their hands on the latest game from Mojang Studios. The resource-collecting and base-building game features both single-player and multiplayer. Minecraft Legends pits teams against one another to battle the Piglin hoards and eventually come up against each other. The single-player campaign is a tutorial to help guide players through the ins and outs of gameplay before facing off in PvP. Of course, you can’t pause an online game, but can you pause a single-player game in Minecraft Legends?
Can you pause a single-player game in Minecraft Legends?
Unfortunately not. Mojang Studios have decided that you won’t be able to pause single-player gameplay. Instead, they treat the game as always online, meaning that life continues on even when you hit that pause button. This can be particularly frustrating if you need to grab your food out of the oven or receive your Minecraft Legends merch delivery from the door.
The pause screen is deceptive. It mutes many sounds and covers the screen in a pause menu. What you may not realize is that the action is still going on behind the screen. Piglins still attack, your hordes can still be obliterated, and villages can still fall. You may pop away briefly and return to a smoking wasteland.
It’s still possible to pause… kinda
You can always find a way to pause the action of a single-player game in Minecraft Legends. You simply need to save and quit. This is a bit annoying as you will have to sit through the loading screens again to get back into the action. The load screens do seem to be shockingly long for a game of this size too. It’s better than having everything die, but still not as handy as a simple pause.
Why Mojang Studios didn’t decide to add a pause to the single-player campaign isn’t clear, but it may be something that gets patched in later.
