IO Interactive has revealed details of the arsenal of weaponry you’ll have at your disposal in Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days.
In the first of a two part post on the official site, game director Kim Krogh explains the development team’s approach to weaponry in the action sequel.
“With the game taking place in Shanghai, we wanted to use primarily Chinese weapons in Dog Days,” he writes.
“We’ve also worked to match the weapons to the environments and the actual use in-game.”
As such, you’ll notice some differences between Chinese and Western weapons, with some modern guns featuring a trigger in front of the ammo clip making the weapon shorter. Which, we imagine, will come in handy in tight, close quarters combat.
Krogh says: “A perfect match for the gameplay we wanted players to experience; you are up close and personal and dodging in and out of narrow alleys with bullets slamming into objects around you and you need a gun that performs under those conditions.”
Also of interest is the lack of grenades in the sequel. Krogh explains that, as grenades aren’t standard issue for police, the team opted for canisters instead, like fire extinguishers and gas canisters.
