This compares favourably to the $1.09 billion USD net loss reported to the SEC for the previous fiscal year, but marks the third time in a row the publisher has failed to make a profit (in 2008, the loss was reported as $454 million USD.)

In more positive news, EA’s annual revenue increased by $119 million USD to $979 million USD. The publisher attributes this rise to the success of titles like Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Mass Effect 2, FIFA 10, Dante’s Inferno and an expansion of its digital download services.

“We had an excellent fourth quarter,” said EA CEO John Riccitiello. “Battlefield: Bad Company 2 outperformed … and we exceeded our expectations on the bottom line.”

Looking ahead, the publisher expects net revenue for the first quarter of 2011 to be approximately $710 to $750 million USD.
