It’s a Microsoft E3 conference, so that means kicking off with some Call of Duty. As usual, a man pretended to play the game on-stage while a video of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare played behind him. Either that, or he just had god mode switched on.
Anyway, guess what? Advanced Warfare looked like a Call of Duty game. There was a set-piece arrival in an explodey South Korean city (that you won’t get to see nearly enough of as you follow waypoints around,) a talky bit where your commander spat some military jargon at you, and some walking through corridors next to small fires on piles of rubble because that’s what you do in linear FPS games now.
Apparently your name is Mitchell in this one. Possible Eastenders influence?
Then another future solider man gets his arm trapped in something he’s putting a bomb on and it all goes very pathos. Hold your hat to your chest for the brave sacrifice of this pretend future military man who you have barely any connection to.
If you have a PC, all of the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare DLC will be late because Microsoft has tied that up with a month of exclusivity for the Xbox One again. Thanks, Microsoft!
Here’s the footage.
