Left 4 Dead 2 Re-Edited For Australia

Valve has revealed it has submitted a re-edited version of Left 4 Dead 2 alongside the original to the Australian Office of Film and Literature Classification (OFLC)

Valve’s Gabe Newell apparently revealed the news to AusGamers on a recent trip down under and said that, while the company hopes the original version will eventually be passed on appeal, an edited version has been submitted as a backup in order not to miss the 17 November release.

Should the appeal be successful following the release of the re-edit, Newell said that a PC patch would be released restoring the edited content. Xbox 360 owners might not be so lucky, however,  as the procedure for patching games is more complex.

Left 4 Dead 2 was refused classification in Australia due to the inclusion of melee violence in the sequel which the OFLC judged was unsuitable for its highest rating, MA 15+.
