Alien: Isolation Survivor Mode launches with release – Watch the horror

Alien Isolation - 09

Players are challenged to go head to head with the pesky alien and other nasties on Sevastopol Station.

Survivor Mode was first shown at E3 this year and Creative Assembly will be releasing this mode with the game launch and through subsequent DLCs. Players will be sneaking around Sevastopol Station with limited resources, searching for useful items, and undertake objectives that will help them escape from the alien’s clutches.

When the game ships it will contain only one Survivor Mode level called ‘Basement’. Consider it a demo of what’s to come. The first of what will be five Survivor Mode add-on packs will be released on 28 October featuring three new maps, a new playable character, and different enemy to avoid while attempting to escape.

Survivor mode sounds like a terrifying prospect, and the fact that it’s against the clock makes it even more panic inducing. Creative Lead on Alien: Isolation, Al Hope, has this to say on the mode:

“At this year’s E3 and a number of subsequent events, we put the Survivor Mode demo into the hands of the world’s press and consumers and the reception was incredible. This is the game in its purest form; it’s you against the creature and it’s against the clock. It was just fantastic watching players leave the demo with a strange mix of joy, terror and relief at simply surviving, before jumping back in and try to tackle it in a different way to beat their time!”

The Season Pass will offer a discount of up to 25% off these packs and all the packs will be released by 25 March next year.
