Upon perusing the General Store in Alan Wake 2, you’ll eventually find a Sawed-Off Shotgun locked behind a glass case, but how do you unlock it?
There’s a three-numbered lock, and a note with a clue, but this puzzle can get quite confusing. If you’re stumped just like I was, let me explain how you can figure out the lock combination.
General Store Shotgun lock combination in Alan Wake 2
On your mission to find Nightingale’s heart in the General Store freezer, you’re interrupted by your first enemy. After defeating them, you’ll find the room with the Shotgun locked behind glass. How you unlock the General Store Sawed-Off Shotgun in Alan Wake 2 is by figuring out the code using the lotto numbers at the counter.
The note by the glass case tells you to check with Lady Fortuna at the counter. Head towards the cash register, and press ‘F’ to look at the items on the counter.

There are a lot of different numbers, which will make it confusing to figure out. The most important ones are the numbers on the notepad, and the lotto numbers.
Looking at the notepad, you’ll see that the workers would often change the lock code. The numbers listed are 705, 713, 717, then 723. But what do these mean? Well, if you take a look at the lotto numbers, you’ll notice a pattern.
The code always starts with seven, but they change the last two numbers based on the lotto numbers. After 23 comes 39 in the lotto, so the lock combination for the Sawed-Off Shotgun is 739. I was pretty stumped trying to figure this one out, and as soon as I put that together, I felt like I had a huge revelation.
Now, just head over to the glass case, and put in 739. You now have a second weapon, and it’s more powerful than your pistol!
