World of Warcraft Classic SoD: All New Runes

Phase 2 of Season of Discovery is implementing two new runes for each class. They’ll each have their respective quest that players will need to find them. Some of these are going to be vastly important in combat, especially for the new raid, so be sure to stay on top of the best ones for your class.

That said, it’d be wise to familiarize yourself with the new runes before they drop.

  • Druid
    • Eclipse
      • Increases the critical strike chance of your next two Wrath abilities by 30% and Wrath increases the critical strike chance of your next Starfire by 30% with each effect stacking up to four times.
    • King of the Jungle
      • Tiger’s Fury now increases physical damage you deal by 15%, as well as instantly granting you 60 energy. As a trade-off for this, Tiger’s Fury now has a 30-second cooldown.
  • Paladin
    • Sheath of Light
      • Will cause damage dealt with your melee weapon to also increase your spell power. It will also cause your critical heals to apply an additional heal over time on the target.
    • Guarded by the Light
      • Will cause your melee weapon hits to restore mana over time, however; the amount healed by Flash of Light, Holy Light, and Holy Shock will be reduced by half.
  • Hunter
    • Melee Specialist
      • Reduces the cooldown on Raptor Strike, cause it to trigger instantly, and each usage of Raptor Strike has a chance not to trigger its cooldown. Melee Specialist will also remove the cooldown of Mongoose Bite.
    • Trap Launcher
      • Allows you to place traps at any location within 40 yards and allows you to place your traps while in combat. Additionally, your fire-based and frost-based traps have separate shared cooldowns.
  • Warrior
    • Rallying Cry
      • A defensive ability that can be activated to increase the health of all party and raid members within 40 yards.
    • Blood Surge
      • Heroic Strike, Bloodthirst and Whirlwind have a 30% chance to make your next Slam instant and cost no Rage.
  • Rogue
    • Shuriken Toss
      • Throw a shuriken at your enemy, dealing damage to your target and up to 4 additional nearby.
    • Master of Subtlety
      • Attacks made while stealthed and for six seconds after breaking stealth cause an additional 10% damage.
  • Priest
    • Mind Spike
      • Blasts the target for 108-126 Shadowfrost damage and increases critical strike chance at the next Mind Blast.
    • Pain Suppression
      • Reduces all damage taken by a friendly target by 40.
  • Warlock
    • Invocation
      • Refreshing Corruption, Immolate, Curse of Agony and Siphon of Life when they have less then six seconds remaining will instantly deal damage.
    • Dance of the Wicked
      • Will trigger a buff which increases you and your pets’ dodge chance any time either of you deal a critical strike to an enemy. You will also gain 2% of your maximum mana when this occurs.
  • Mage
    • Missile Barrage
      • Gives your Arcane Blast, Fireball, and Frostbolt spells a chance to reduce the channeled duration of your next Arcane Missiles spell by half, reduce its mana cost to 0, and cause missiles to fire every .5 seconds.
    • Chronostatic Preservation
      • Fuses Arcane, Fire and Frost magic to use at a later time. You can hold this spell for up to 15 seconds, or it will combust and heal friendly targets for 665-998.
  • Shaman
    • Maelstrom Weapon
      • Causes damage dealt with melee attacks to have a chance to reduce the cast time of your next Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning, Lesser Healing Wave, Healing Wave, Chain Heal, or Lava Burst spell by 20%. The cast time reduction can stack up to five times.
    • Spirit of the Alpha
      • Casts a 30-minute buff on a friendly target to increase the threat generated by that target.
    • Two-Handed Mastery
      • Gain 30% attack speed when you hit an enemy with a two-handed weapon.

While this may appear to be a bit overwhelming at first, do not fear, as most of these runs are rather straightforward in what they do, so deciding which ones to use shouldn’t be a complicated process. For instance, Mage healers, a unique aspect of SoD, are going to want to opt for the Chronostatic Preservation rune due to its excellent healing output. Season of Discovery isn’t going to be around forever, so read our article on how long the season will last.
