Sandman’s real name is Flint Marko. He got himself trapped in an irradiated sand which cursed him with the power to control sand. Happens to the best of us. He can absorb any nearby sand to make himself significantly larger or to turn his limbs into weapons like giant hammers. He is particularly difficult to defeat since he lacks a solid form, rendering the Spidermen’s webbing nearly useless. Water is his well-known weakness.

In the game, Sandman is pretty close to his comic book counterpart. In the comics, he gained his powers after being exposed to irradiated sand during a prison escape, so that’s mostly the same. He is a founding member of the Sinister Six, a team of supervillains dedicated to defeating Spiderman. Despite his criminal past, Sandman has also redeemed himself on occasion and has even worked alongside Spiderman.

He is voiced in the game by Leandro Cano.

A symbiotic-like entity was used by Norman Osborn to treat Harry Osborn, who is afflicted with an ever-worsening illness. The symbiote ends up taking over and Harry Osborn who becomes Venom, instead of Eddie Brock as it is in the comics and recent standalone Venmon movies starring Tom Hardy.

In the comics, Venom is an alien symbiote that bonded with Eddie Brock, a disgraced journalist who hated Spiderman. Spider-Man revealed that a story Eddie published was poorly researched, so from that day on, Eddie/Venom sword revenge on the Web Head. The symbiote gave Brock superhuman powers and a twisted sense of justice. Venom is one of Spiderman’s most iconic arch-nemeses, but he has also been a reluctant ally to the web-slinger on occasion, and a hero on even rarer occasions.

Traditionally, in the comics, the symbiote takes on a similar frame of its host’s body. Venom is a big muscle monster because Eddie Brock was a bodybuilder. Yet, in Spiderman 2, it turns skinny and frail Harry Osborne into this hulking beast. Obviously, they’re bringing the comic book depiction to life, but they could have shown Harry using some kind of steroid to fight his illness, start bulking up, and then the symbiote would take over to protect him. It feels weird to see Harry transition in the game because it’s such a huge change that we’re not used to.

Venom is voiced by horror film legend Tony Todd.

When he was young, Martin Li was used as a test subject for Norman Osborn’s Devil’s Breath, a poison that could kill anyone within the lineage of a certain genetic code. Instead of killing him, Martin gained a terrifying set of powers which he uses in his endless quest to exact revenge on Norman. In Marvel’s Spiderman, he planned on stealing Devil’s Breath and unleashing it on New York as a way to get back at Norman, who was now mayor. He returns in Spiderman 2 game to get his revenge on Spiderman for foiling his evil plans from the first game.

Martin Li is the alter ego of Mister Negative, a supervillain who can harness a form of negative energy. In the comics, Li is a wealthy philanthropist who secretly runs a criminal empire. He is one of Spiderman’s most formidable foes, and contrary to popular belief, he was introduced in the comics before getting into the games.

Marin Li is voiced by Stephen Oyoung.
