Are Hearty Durians in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? Answered

Where did all the durians go?

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild fans may remember Hearty Durians. They were a collectable fruit item that eaten raw, restored three hearts, and when cooked together, restored all hearts and temporarily increased Link’s maximum hearts. They made heart recovery easier in Breath of the Wild. While playing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you may have noticed there isn’t a single one in sight yet. Which may leave you wondering: Are Hearty Durians in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom at all? Here’s the answer.

Where are Hearty Durians in Tears of the Kingdom?

Nowhere. They’re gone.

Unfortunately, they’re not hiding away somewhere to be rediscovered on the map or anything like that. They’re just straight up not in Tears of the Kingdom at all. Whether that’s due to some kind of climate excuse in universe despite how many of its contemporaries survived perfectly fine is unclear. Maybe the developers simply decided to swap them out or delete them as unnecessary. The in-universe climate explanation seems unlikely, as the Faron area of the map is still perfectly tropical and durian fruits in real life grow in those kind of temperatures. They were even found there in Breath of the Wild, so there’s no reason they would disappear.

Perhaps they just made the game too easy in Breath of the Wild, or the developers wanted to focus on the various other new fruits added in Tears of the Kingdom. We can only speculate, but the bottom line is we certainly can’t find them anymore. If you’re searching for alternatives, Hearty Truffles are still in the game, albeit rare, or Hyurle Herbs still exist. One could always just gather a bunch of apples and repeatedly cook them into reserves as well.

Oh well, who likes eating durians anyway?
