Assassin’s Creed Valhalla guide: Creating and managing your Jomsviking

You can create a Jomsviking in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla once you’ve grown your settlement and you can build a barracks. The building itself costs 400 supplies and 30 raw materials. It should be your priority after the blacksmith, Hidden Ones Bureau, and item shop.

Once constructed, the NPC will let you create your own Jomsviking. You can choose their gender, pre-generated name, and basic looks. After character creation, your choices are locked in and cannot be changed.

The only feature that can be changed later is the gear that your Jomsviking can wear. This is dependent on any equipment you’ve already obtained, including those from the in-game store or microtransactions/cosmetics shop.

Funnily enough, I think a reason why my Jomsviking kept getting recruited was that the Draugr armor set looked so cool. It was the same thought that crossed my mind when I saw the Jomsviking of BoomstickAlex/Boomstick Gaming who had the Valkyrie set.

Speaking of recruitment, other player-created Jomsvikings can be spotted in various towns in England. They have a small fee and, once recruited, they’ll appear in your pool of raiding crew characters.

Note: You can only have a maximum of 100 unique Jomsviking characters. As for your active raiding crew, you can only have a maximum of six members.

Anyway, if someone recruited your Jomsviking, just wait a while. Once they’ve returned, the barracks NPC will give you 100 silver. This represents the plunder and share of the character since the Jomsvikings were, historically, raiders and mercenaries that sold their services to various lords. Conversely, if you recruited someone else’s Jomsviking, then that player will eventually gain a bit of gold as well.

Note 1: As far as I know, Jomsvikings don’t use your stats at the moment. However, there will be an update later once Assassin’s Creed Valhalla‘s Season 1 begins in December. This will let your Jomsviking earn XP and ranks.

Note 2: One last thing regarding your raiding crew: Jomsvikings comprise one type of crew member or character you can have. There are also unique characters that we discuss in our raiding crew guide.
