A Baldur’s Gate 3 player finds a huge piece of lore as a Githyanki Tav

What's with the Githyanki?

I’m just as shocked as you’re about to be after reading this news. Although I’m pretty knowledgeable on D&D lore, I clearly didn’t know enough about Githyanki. On Reddit, a Baldur’s Gate 3 player finds a huge piece of lore after playing a Githyanki Tav. Tav just means you’re playing the custom Origin character.

New Githyanki lore drop just happened after hilarious dialogue choice in Baldur’s Gate 3

A Reddit post on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit showcased a hilarious screenshot while playing a Githyanki Tav with a supposed lore drop. But the truth behind the line is a lot more understandable than you may think. The NPC Skrut mentions something about taking a dump, and an interesting dialogue choice pops up.

Because their Tav is a Githyanki, they had the choice of saying, “Heh. It’s a good thing my kind do not need to defecate.” Now, at first, I was very confused. Lae’Zel most definitely eats our meals at Long Rests, so where would the food go after she eats it?

Many fans in the comments are trying to figure out the logistics. Perhaps the Githyanki have a different digestive system? Or maybe it has to do with the fact that Githyanki lay eggs?

I had to scour the comments and Google some things to get a clearer answer. Although at first, it seems like a crazy piece of lore for Githyanki, it’s very likely a simple joke. I found another Reddit post where the player’s Half-Elf was able to say the same line.

Other comments throughout both Reddit posts explain how there are a few other races that have the same dialogue option. So sadly, it seems as though it’s just Tav being cheeky and making a joke. It would’ve been pretty hilarious if true, but it just wouldn’t make sense. Sorry to burst your bubble, but what seemed like a wild lore drop is just Tav trying to be funny.
