While each recipe can help you survive the challenging world of No Rest for the Wicked, there are a handful that will make you unstoppable. After reviewing all the recipes in the early access version of the game, I have come to the conclusion that the four best recipes are: Angler’s Delight Chowder, Sirloin Platter, Herder’s Hearth Stew, and Fish Salad.

These four cooking recipes offer the biggest benefits, such as replenishing the most health. Here are the in-game descriptions of each of these cooking recipes:

  • Angler’s Delight Chowder: Instantly restores 100 Health and 50 Focus. (2x Raw Bass, 1x Potato, 1x Dracaena Herb).
  • Sirloin Platter: Instantly restores 150 Health. Increases Health by 45 for 600 seconds. (2x Quality Meat Section, 1x Lithops Herb).
  • Herder’s Hearth Stew: Instantly restores 80 Health. Increases Stamina by 15 for 60 seconds. (1x Standard Meat Chunk, 2x Potato, 1x Dracaena Herb).
  • Fish Salad: Instantly restores 80 Health and 50 Focus. (2x Raw Trout, 2x Mushroom, 1x Dracaena Herb).

As you can see, these cooking recipes offer great benefits that can really get you out of a tough situation. My personal favorite is Angler’s Delight Chowder because not only does it replenish 100 health, but also fills my focus bar by 50. Having more focus is a game changer since it allows me to utilize my weapon runes more often.

How to unlock more cooking recipes in No Rest for the Wicked

There are a couple of ways to unlock new recipes in No Rest for the Wicked. The absolute best way is to help Gordon down from the bridge during the “Innkeeper’s Husband” quest and bring him back to Sacrament. When Gordon arrives back at Sacrament, he will open up his kitchen and sell recipes in his inventory. Upgrading his kitchen by speaking to Danos will unlock even more recipes.

Grinnich also sometimes has cooking recipes in his inventory as well. If you don’t see any recipes in his inventory, just remember that you may have to upgrade his shop by speaking to Danos. Check out our Sacrament merchants guide to learn more about Gordon, Grinnich, and Danos.
