Bill Tiller has told IncGamers that he “would love” to work on a special edition of The Curse of Monkey Island.

A special edition for the third in the Monkey Island series has not yet been announced and Tiller says he has “no clue if they are going to do it,” but with the success of the first Monkey special edition and the sequel due for release this summer it seems like a possibility.

Of course, Tiller’s artwork for Curse already updated the series’ pixel-based graphics and the game was the first Monkey title to feature full voice acting, so LucasArts may feel that an update is not really necessary. However, in an earlier twitter post Tiller did note that “The art for CMI was painted PS at 640×480. So you can’t rescan it to make it bigger. But the line work was pencil drawn and could be.”

“I just want to work on it” Tiller told us, “I sent an email and phone message telling the producer of MI2 se (sic) that I would love to do it.”Previous artistic work on the Monkey Island remakes has been outsourced by LucasArts to Singapore for financial reasons, but it would be a dreadful shame if a Curse special edition were to go ahead without the man who defined its original style.
