Destiny 2: Season of Arrivals – Means to an End quest (week 4)

Truth be told, the Means to an End quest didn’t really change too much. If you’ve completed it during the first week of the Season of Arrivals, then you’ll be familiar with the quest steps because we just saw a rotation.

The Contact public event is still taking place on Io (though it’s now in the Rupture area). The heroic boss is, once again, the Taken Pyromaster — that monster who goes immune and summons Taken blights.

If you’re fighting it right in front of the Pyramidion’s entrance, then the Taken blights will be up top just past the bluffs. Take note of where they spawn because Destiny 2 blueberries might miss them completely. Just complete a couple of these public events to finish the first step.

Note: The “Contact: Heavy Hitters” triumph is still bugged. You won’t get your tally completed for defeating the Taken Pyromaster this week.

Next up, it’s time to collect Umbral Essences in the Nightfall: Ordeal, Nightmare Hunts, or in Crucible’s control playlist. You get more Umbral Essences from multi-kills/killstreaks.

The best place to gather these quest items would be in Nightmare Hunt: Servitude. Pick the Adept difficulty and just kill all the Vex you see. Once you reach Zydron, make sure not to nuke it too fast so you can annihilate more mobs that spawn. Since you’re getting progress from the killstreaks of other teammates, then you should have 35-40% of your progress bar filled in a single run.

Weekly Interference mission: Savathun’s Court #1

Next up is the weekly Interference mission. Breeze through all the mobs in the Cradle area until you’re teleported to Savathun’s Court.

Again, this will be the same location you visited during the first week of Destiny 2: Season of Arrivals. It’s the area with pendulum platforms and plates that need to get activated to open the main doorway.

Activate the plates on the left and right-hand sides, and then the one at the center. Don’t forget to take out the Unstoppable Phalanx because that guy’s really annoying.

Once you get to the boss’ area, go ahead and eliminate the hostiles to get Savathun’s Shrieker opens up, then wail away on it with everything you have. If it closes up again, just kill more mobs and then damage it when possible. This isn’t a Darkness zone so the only threat would be the silly bug that makes these 800 power level enemies (with red sword icons) shred you too easily.

Pick up the Umbral Engram and enter the portal to speak to Eris. Funnily enough, she gives you the “Cusp” lore entry even though we did the same old Interference mission in the same old Savathun’s Court location.

In any case, make your way back to the Tower’s Prismatic Recaster to collect your pinnacle reward. If you’re already at the 1,060 PL hard cap for Destiny 2: Season of Arrivals, then it’s probably no longer necessary to redo the same mission on your alts.

As for next week, it’s possible that we’ll see a repeat of the second and third week’s activities. (I hope not, because I’d like to see something new.)

Time will tell if we’re just doing this for additional lore entries, or if the next Means to an End quest and weekly Interference missions will just lead nowhere. One theory is that we’ll need to wait until late July to see the Contact public event on Titan, so it looks like we’ll be seeing a rehash of what we’ve been doing for the past month.
