The Heels of History is a required quest to continue The Caged Magistrate quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2. By completing The Heels of History, you’ll discover the room with plenty of tomes that Waldhar is after and find where Malcolm is trapped in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
Where to find Kendrick and clues about Malcolm in Dragon’s Dogma 2
When you hit a wall with The Caged Magistrate quest, you’ll be guided to seek a room with plenty of tomes. This is done through The Heels of History quest which starts by talking with Kendrick in The Slums of Vernworth which is east. Give Kendrick food and Gold until he asks you for help finding Malcolm.
I’m not sure if the quest requires you to talk to the right child or all the children since it could’ve been either in my playthrough. I talked with Aimee who is inside the church. She gave Malcolm’s location away which allowed me to continue the quest. If you need to talk to all the children, you’ll find children all along The Slums. Talk to the ones that are hunched over digging through dirt.
How to find Malcolm and the room with plenty of tomes in Dragon’s Dogma 2
With Malcolm’s location revealed, talk with Kendrick. He’ll lead you to the entrance to the vaults which is where Malcolm is located. The building rubble will open just enough for you to fit through. Don’t worry, you don’t need to worry about climbing monsters ahead.
Once you’re in the vaults, it’s fairly straightforward. Turn left, jump over the gap, turn right, and keep going. You’ll run into Malcolm who tells you he stumbled upon a room with plenty of tomes. How convenient!
