How to beat Ahriman in Ghostrunner 2

Fighting in 3D.

As you slip, slide, and slice your way through the neon-soaked world of Ghostrunner 2, you will occasionally face a formidable foe. The first of these comes early on in the game, perhaps before you know exactly what you’re doing.

Knowing how to beat Ahriman in Ghostrunner 2 could take more skill than you’re used to. Most enemies in Ghostrunner 2 can be easily dispatched with a quick slice of a blade. At the most, they’ll take a stun, then a close-range attack. However, Ahriman is a boss and is going to take a whole lot more than that to vanquish.

The best way to beat Ahriman in Ghostrunner 2

This guy is not like the rest. You need to be ready for his many different attacks and know exactly how to counter him. I threw myself against his barrage for longer than I care to mention, but by the end, I had it cracked.

Ahriman’s attacks

  • Verticle slice – In this move, he will lift his sword way above his head and bring it down into the ground, splitting the impact zone into two parallel lines.
  • Sweep – Similar to the vertical slice, he will swing his sword. This time, it is in a sweeping motion.
  • Aerial bombardment – From an elevated position, Ahriman will attack your Ghostrunner with slices of energy.
  • Ground Slam – This is by far the most annoying move. He will slam into the ground, creating a wave that pushes out to the edges of the arena. It cannot be parried and must be jumped over.

I found that the best approach was to close as much space between you and Ahriman as possible. When he jumps away, he is rarely further than two dashes from your Ghostrunner. Close the space, and lay into him for a maximum of four swings.

Once you have made these swings, take one dash back and assess the move Ahriman is about to make. They are always heavily telegraphed. If he jumps into the air, take a further step back and locate your flying partner. However, if Ahriman goes for a ground slam, you need to use him to grapple over the blast. If he is only throwing his aerial bombardment, you can easily dodge and parry. This ground slam move is the only one you need to be very careful of.

For his two sword attacks, you should try to watch for their telegraph. For the vertical move, getting behind Ahriman will allow you to continue attacking while avoiding damage. In the case of the sweep, make some distance between you and him.

Use the freeze ability when you want to, it isn’t essential to the success of the mission, but it can be helpful when Ahriman keeps dashing away from your Ghostrunner.
