How to beat Ashava during Act VI in Diablo 4

A pestilent foe.

While this gigantic creature serves as a main story boss, you can even find them throughout Sanctuary. In Diablo 4, you’ll probably come across Ashava, either in Act VI of the story, or as a World boss. Fighting Ashava the Pestilent with friends is one thing, but alone during the campaign is another. I’ll explain how to beat Ashava during Act VI in Diablo 4 if you’re struggling.

Diablo 4: Ashava the Pestilent boss guide

During your venture through Hell to find Lilith, you’re met with a humongous beast named Ashava. They were even apart of the Server Slam as a World Boss before the full release. Ashava may be easy to tackle with a few other players as a World Boss, but not so much alone. Of course, you have Donan, Neyrelle, and Lorath, but they’re still a hefty creature to slay. How you’ll beat Ashava during Act VI of Diablo 4 requires dexterous skills, long-ranged attacks, and Poison control.

How to prepare to fight Ashava

The battlefield is huge to fit the size of Ashava and allowing you to keep a safe distance. If you’re used to up-close melee fighting, you may want to rely more on ranged attacks. Also, I recommend having certain skills that allow you to move quickly around the battlefield. As a Lightning Sorcerer, I love using Teleport to get away from an upcoming attack.

There’s another thing to note. Ashava will deal some huge Poison attacks, so if you’re not using any other Elixirs, try drinking a Poison Resistance Elixir. You can craft these through Alchemists in most towns.

How to defeat Ashava during Act VI

In Ashava’s first phase, they’ll try to bite you if you’re too close, but will leap at you if you’re too far. I would often get far enough from Ashava, get some hits in, and when they’re about to leap, Dodge or Teleport out of the way. Throughout all of their phases, you and your friends will occasionally stun Ashava. Take this opportunity to hit them with everything you’ve got.

Ashava also likes to make arched claw swipes across the ground, which is hard to react to sometimes. Once you take note of the radius of their strike, try to avoid standing in the strike zone. That way, on the next swipe, you’ll either be too close or too far to get hit. Not only that, but Ashava will bellow out long-ranged Poison attacks. You can detect when they’re about to let it out, as their body begins to glow green. Make sure you’re not standing in front of Ashava, or else you’ll get hit with some hefty poisonous hits.

The second and third phases aren’t terribly different, but Ashava will ramp up their attacks. Just continue to stay clear of the swipes, bites, and Poison vomits. Ashava can also swipe backwards with their claws, so don’t stick behind them for too long.
