After failing to travel south to discover the Legendary Spring due to some quicksand preventing you from advancing, you will be tasked with recovering the scraps of Ann’s motorbike. However, once you get to its last known location, you will find out it isn’t there. Spoiler alert: a giant Pterano took it to its nest. Here is how to beat the Don Pterano boss fight in Sand Land.
Sand Land: How to beat Don Pterano boss
Don Pterano – who arguably has a very classy and mob-like name – will be waiting for your right on the top of Spiral Mountain – no, this is not Banjo Kazooie’s lost third entry. By this point you have dealt with regularly sized Pteranos, but nothing of this nature or scale. However, since we find out that Don Pterano took Ann’s motorbike as part of its metal nest, then we don’t have a choice, we have to fight it!
Don Pterano will fly around the area to avoid your weapon’s firing. However, you will also have his minions – regular Pteranos – flying all over the area in an attempt to attack you and leave you wide open to Don Pterano’s attacks. To circumvent this, deal with those regular Pteranos first with your tank’s machine gun fire. Once you are clear, fire your shells toward Don Pterano, but keep moving around the arena.
I would suggest equipping your tank with parts that will enhance your speed because Don Pterano has a tornado-like attack in which it will barrel roll toward you in a fast sweep. Forget about firing and get out of there fast. Then, you can resume firing as usual, but continue moving in case it lunges at you.
Continue with your shots directed toward Don Pterano and you will defeat him eventually. You will find out that Don Pterano was only protecting the nest’s eggs, so Ann will somehow communicate with Don and you will be all clear to take the motorbike scraps with you. Travel to Spino and create new motorbike parts to build a brand-new motorbike. Then, return to the south and you will find out what lies beyond and inside the Legendary Spring.
