How to beat the Stone Talus in Crenel Hill Caves in Tears of the Kingdom (TotK)

Overcoming the barrier.

Beating bosses in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is something that’s a relatively tricky thing to do. You have to find a boss’s weakness before you can truly take them on with confidence, and every boss type has a different trick to beating them. The Stone Taluses found through Hyrule are one of the earliest bosses you can beat, boasting formidable defense and only being able to be damaged if you hit the stone on its back. One the Stone Taluses in the game has a different type of stone on its back, a luminous one. Here’s our guide on how to beat the Stone Talus in Crenel Hill Caves in Tears of the Kingdom.

Beating the Luminous Stone Talus in Crenel Hill Caves is pretty much the same as beating a regular Stone Talus, all you need to do is avoid its attacks and then climb onto its back and deal some major damage to the big Luminous Stone that’s there. There are some tips for beating it however, such as getting up on its back.

Getting up on its back is something you can do in a multitude of ways, you can climb the Stone Talus, you can glide or fly up to its back, or you can do it in the way that I prefer to do it, that is Ascending onto its back. That’s right, if you stand yourself under the Stone Talus, you can actually just Ascend through it and onto its back for probably the quickest and most surefire way of getting onto its back.

Once you’re up on the Stone Talus’s back in Tears of the Kingdom, you’re going to want to start attacking its core with everything you’ve got. Obviously a strong weapon will be great here, but another recommendation on weapon type is using a two-handed weapon. The power attack of a two-handed weapon deals some major damage pretty quickly depending on the amount of stamina you have, as it swings around and every hit counts as a hit. As mentioned though, any weapon will suffice, I personally beat this boss by using a strong spear I had in my inventory, and it went down very quickly, so anything works here.

Hopefully with these tips you’ll be able to beat the Stone Talus in Crenel Hill Caves with ease.
