How to butcher Pals with the Meat Cleaver in Palworld

And you thought the guns and violence were bad.

Palworld is essentially Pokémon’s unhinged cousin that isn’t allowed at the family gathering, and if it isn’t because of the violence, guns, or the ability to capture humans, I would say it’s because of this single feature.

Here’s how to butcher Pals with the Meat Cleaver in Palworld, if you’ve decided to have your Chaotic Evil arc.

How to make and use the Meat Cleaver in Palworld

If you feel like taking psychic damage today, you’re going to need a workbench, five ingots (obtained from smelting ore in a furnace), 20 wood, and five stones. This is all you need to craft — assuming you’ve unlocked it — the Meat Cleaver.

The Meat Cleaver functions like a normal weapon outside of its one key feature. When you’re holding the Meat Cleaver and open the command menu (default 4 key), the option to butcher your current Pal appears at the very top of the wheel. Now it goes without saying, but do not click this option if you want to keep your Pal. I wouldn’t keep the Meat Cleaver on your weapon bar at all unless you mean to use it, just to be safe.

Upon using it, the game will censor the act with pixels. The Pal left behind will be in their usual incapacitated state, but they’re not getting back up. Use your imagination. Keep in mind that this also works on captured humans. You can straight up become a serial killer if that’s your tune because this game has no breaks.

So, what do you get from butchering your beloved companions anyhow? You get the resources associated with the specific Pal, the same you get from knocking it out or capturing it. Therefore, the only reason to butcher Pals is if you need a resource you don’t want to otherwise farm or have a bunch of captured Pals left over. Even then, why not just condense them in the Pal Condenser and avoid having to do the brutal act yourself?

Ultimately, it’s your game and your choice of what to do. But that was how to butcher Pals with the Meat Cleaver in Palworld. If you need help figuring out how to create life rather than take it away, here are all Pal breeding combos in Palworld.
