How to change hirelings’ appearances in Baldur’s Gate 3

Did you know that in Baldur’s Gate 3, if you’re missing a specific class type in your party, you can simply hire someone to fill in the gap? You can actually pay some gold to acquire hirelings who you can control and bring along your adventures! But now, in Hotfix #9, you can even change their appearance. Baldur’s Gate 3: How to change appearance of hirelings

Although they’re just here to help, perhaps you want a band of hirelings based on your own beautiful creations. It’s a lot easier than you may realize to adjust how they look. How you can change the hirelings’ appearances is Baldur’s Gate 3 is by bringing them to the Magic Mirror.

In Patch 03, Larian Studios implemented the Magic Mirror into your camp, which can allow you to change your own character’s looks. But now, even your hirelings can look different! First off, you’ll want to actually recruit a hireling. Speak with Withers in your camp and ask to hire one for 100 gold. Make sure you have an empty spot in your party for them.

Then, you get to choose between 12 hirelings, a different person for each available class. Once they’re in your party, click on their character portrait to gain control of them. Now, find where your Magic Mirror is in camp. Since your camp environment changes depending on where you are, it may take some time to find it. It’s a large, blue mirror with magic swirling in its reflection.

Interact with the Magic Mirror as a hireling, and there you have it! You’ll enter a different version of the character creator, and you can adjust things like their hair, face, tattoos, and more. You just can’t change their voice or race.
