In order to change your name in Call of Duty: Mobile, there are a couple of things that you must do. Firstly, you need to make sure that you either have 500 COD points in your account’s balance, or that you possess a Name Changing Card/Rename Card in your inventory. The second thing that you need to double check is that you have not changed your name within the last three days, since player’s can only alter their username after a three day cooldown period. Now, here are the steps to changing your name in Call of Duty: Mobile:

  • Click on your player name, which can be found on the main screen at the top of your device.
  • Next, press the second tab which will open up your unique Player Profile.
  • Now click the ‘Edit’ button which is located at the end of your player name.
  • Lastly, enter a new name and then press the ‘Change’ button.
  • If you do not currently own a Name Changing Card/Rename Card, the game will ask you to purchase one in order to complete the transaction and finalize the name change.

Why was my name changed by Activision?

If your name was changed in the game without your permission or knowledge, and you know that nobody else has access to your account or device, then it is highly likely that Activision staff changed it themselves. There are a variety of different reasons for why this might have been done, but the most likely is that your name was deemed to be inappropriate and therefore had to be removed.

Luckily, players who have their names changed by Activision are given a free Name Changing Card/Rename Card which they can use to pick a new and appropriate name for themselves if they wish. However, will still need to wait for the three-day cooldown period to pass before changing it again. Unfortunately, Activision does not accept appeals nor requests for a review of their name changing activities, so if your name was changed there is nothing that can be done but to accept the loss and pick a new handle.
