How to complete Rarely Affectionate (Part 1) in Honkai Star Rail

Honkai: Star Rail presents you with a lot of characters. You’ll get to know them while rushing through the campaign, but sometimes that’s not enough. Fortunately, there are companion missions available that let you dive a bit deeper. Here is our guide telling you how to complete Rarely Affectionate (Part 1) in Honkai: Star Rail.

Honkai Star Rail – How to complete Rarely Affectionate (Part 1)

Rarely Affectionate (Part 1) is the first of a multi-part sub-mission that becomes available in the Robot Settlement area of Jarilo-VI. You won’t access it until you have essentially finished with that planet. It appears as part of the Slices of Life Before the Furnace mission, once Clara texts you.

To complete Rarely Affectionate (Part 1), help her determine who has been stealing mechanical parts in the Robot Settlement. This will require you to search for clues and take a brief tour of the area.

Start by accepting the mission and warping to the Svarog’s Base space anchor. Head through the archway and into the safe zone. Cross it and make your way to the front of the building. Clara and Svarog are waiting. Ask Clara what’s wrong and she shares her fears about a thief operating nearby.

Propose working together. Then follow Clara back through the safe zone and to the encampment. You’ll soon come to a man standing near a tent. The shivering vagrant relys a recent theft by a square-headed man with a knife. Follow the directions on the map, downhill toward the gate. Investigate to find scratches on the cliff face. Then you should follow the prompts to the nearby lift.

Descend using the lift. Near the base of the lift, check the cliff wall for another clue. Next, venture left across the scrap bridge. Then veer right to reach the next point along a cliff wall as you head uphill. There are Automaton Spider enemies in this area, but they should be well below your level. They are weak to wind attacks. As for the next clue, it seems like a dead end but then you will find a new point of interest off to the left.

Head in that direction, but be careful. There is a higher level Automaton Grizzly roaming the area. It is weak to fire, ice, and lightning attacks, and it immediately summons some mechanical friends that are weak to wind and lightning. My usual party of Serval, Dan Heng, Bailu, and March 7th handles these threats quite readily. It’s a variation on one of the best team comps in Honkai: Star Rail for free-to-play players such as myself.

Past the enemy mob, you will find a roaming machine. After a conversation, battle begins with the Gear-Stealing Robot. Like other enemies in the area, it is weak to lightning and wind attacks. The robot has virtually no health, making for an easy fight and a sad scene to follow. Once that moment concludes, head over to where Clara is standing next to Svarog. Talk to her for another scene. She directs you to find Toby, who can assist you with finding scrap.

Head back through the archway, past Perkins. Use the lift controller to summon the lift and then ride it down to the lower ledge. Head left and around the rock face to reach Toby. When you talk to him, ask him to show you the way. You will battle more hostile robots along this route. Investigate the first junk heap he shows you to find the Direwolf model. Then follow him again to reach the Beetle model and acquire the Robot Shell. Take that item back to Clara for another scene, followed by a second brief battle with the Gear-Stealing Robot. Once that fight concludes, so does the sub-mission.
