How to find and unlock Cultist Refuge in Diablo 4

Whittle down Lilith’s cult following in their place of worship.

Surprising no one even remotely familiar with the long-established legacy of the series, Diablo 4 is absolutely stuffed with dungeons. Whether in the form of single-room cellar crawls, or multi-floor gauntlets, every step you take has a good chance of uncovering a new dungeon for you to raid. Most of these are out in the open world for you to stumble upon freely, but others are locked behind more particular conditions, such as Feral’s Den. Cultist Refuge is among these unlockable dungeons in Diablo 4, and in this guide we’ll teach you how to find and unlock the Cultist Refuge in Diablo 4, so you can serve sweet justice to the sycophants within.

Unlocking the gates of Cultist Refuge in Diablo 4

To unlock Cultist Refuge, you’ll first need to clear the Nostrava Stronghold in Fractured Peaks. This Stronghold is located north of Nevesk, though you’ll need to take a detour west into the Pallid Glade then look back east in order to reach it. Inside, you’ll find what appears to be a perfectly normal, albeit deserted, little village. Head to the church, however, and things will quickly descend into Wicker Man nonsense as a band of angry cultists set about you.

After surviving this initial encounter, you’ll need to tour the village and rid it of the Demonic Altars that have cropped up in many of the houses there, dealing with enough demons to fill a circle of hell in the process. Finally, you’ll loop back around to the church and face the Stronghold’s boss: Negala, Lilith’s Chosen, a highly mobile flying demon who summons two friends to join the fray after taking some damage. It’s a challenging fight, though definitely the most manageable of the Stronghold bosses in Fractured Peaks, since Nostrava is only one level above your character as opposed to the two that Kor Dragan and Malnok are.

After defeating Negala, and rekindling the Wanderer’s Shrine in the area to officially conquer Nostrava, the Cultist Refuge will be unlocked, accessible by re-entering the church where this whole episode started in the first place. Completing the dungeon for the first time will earn you the Flamewalker’s Aspect, a Sorcerer-only Aspect that grants you a movement speed boost after coming in contact with your Firewall.

And there you have it! That’s how to find and unlock Cultist Refuge in Diablo 4. While the chance to deal with a dungeon full of raving lunatics would hardly constitute a reward in most games, when it comes to the loot-and-loop structure of Diablo, it’s one of the best rewards you could hope for.
