There are three different types of Pal Souls, each being able to upgrade your Pals in different ways. Here’s how it works and where to find them.

Palworld: Where to find Pal Souls

You can come across Small, Medium, and Large Pal Souls. How you can find Pal Souls in Palworld is through chests, Pal drops, and randomly throughout the open world. I’ve found Small Pal Souls randomly on the ground while exploring.

Although this is annoying if you want to farm them, you can also open chests and occasionally find some. I’m still at the start of my Palworld playthrough and currently have only discovered Small Pal Souls. They look like wispy blue items, whereas Medium looks pink, and Large seems to be yellow.

A better way of actually farming Pal Souls is to defeat Pals who drop them. Here are all the Pals that drop Pal Souls:

  • Medium Pal Souls: Helzephyr
  • Large Pal Souls: Anubis

Since Palworld is still in Early Access, this information is subject to change. But for now, you can hunt down these Pals to get different sizes of Pal Souls.

Now that you have some Pal Souls, what do you do with them? Well, first you need to build a Statue of Power, unlockable at Technology level six. Once built on your base, interact with it and choose to upgrade your Pals.

Using different sizes of Pal Souls, you can upgrade these Pal stats: Max HP, Attack, Defense, and Work Speed. The bigger the size of the Pal Soul, the more of an upgrade they get. You can also choose to reset any upgrades you’ve made with your Pals to respec.

Your Statue of Power is also useful for upgrading your capture power with Lifmunk Effigies. Luckily, we have a guide to help you find those.
