While trying to enter a crew hosted by other players, you will encounter an error message that says “An Error Occurred.” This does not seem like a Lethal Company server issue, and neither does it look like a connection error. Unfortunately, without fixing this, you cannot get into a crew and start your journey to collect some scraps and meet your profit quota.

How to fix the “An Error Occurred” issue in Lethal Company

Here are all possible troubleshooting and fixes that you can try for the “An Error Occurred” issue in Lethal Company! I’ve structured them based on what you should try first to last here:

  1. Try to join other crews available on your server. This solved the error most of the time for me.
  2. Restart Lethal Company: Close the game entirely and try relaunching as administrator.
  3. Update Lethal Company: Lethal Company is still in Early Access, so keep it frequently updated using these steps:
    • Open Steam.
    • Go to your game library and right-click on Lethal Company.
    • Check Properties.
    • Click on Updates.
    • Open the drop-down from the Automatic Updates section.
    • Select “Always keep this game up to date.”
  4. Verify Steam game files by taking the following steps:
    • Open Steam.
    • Go to ‘Library’ and right-click on Lethal Company.
    • Select Properties.
    • Go to Installed Files.
    • Click on “Verify integrity of game files.”
    • Once the scan is complete, relaunch the game from the Steam library.
  5. Check for Windows or driver updates: Sometimes Lethal Company can experience errors if incompatible with your current drivers.
  6. Restart your PC and router or reconnect your PC with the WiFi connection after disconnecting manually.
  7. Reinstall the game: If none of the above fixes are working, I recommend this only as a last resort. Consider backing up your save file too!

Take the steps above to address the “An Error Occurred” issue in Lethal Company. The game may be relatively stable, but this can sour your experience on the odd occasion it happens.
